If you are receiving this, you are in good company, the company of high flyers who are on this data base of leaders with grey hair. So, allow me to congratulate you for joining this data base and to extend to you a very merry Christmas and a healthy, happy and fun 2010 with much more work than in 2009.
Last year has been a tough one for all of us whether looking for full time employment or non-executive directorships. The market for recruiters and headhunters has been pruned with many agencies in administration. The market for interim managers is supposed to have contracted by 27%. My guess is that the reality is much worse because such statistics rely on agencies admitting openly how much or rather how little they did throughout the year. So, they might have been tempted to understate the size of their own difficulties.
Can it get any worse in 2010 ? I think not. The green shoots may well remain hidden for some of 2010 but the key indicators suggest that the freefall is over. So, let's hope the only way is up.
We handled some 30 assignments during the year, well below that of www.matureaccountants.com but then they are always ahead of the game. With your help, we could generate more opportunities in 2010. Do please mention us to any Director you know, whether in the private or the public sector. Even if they are currently not looking for fresh talent, they may keep our details for a future date when they will need somebody. If any lead results in fees flowing you will receive a cheque equivalent to 15% of our income together with a big word of thanks. This could be for a Managing, HR, Sales or Marketing Director or even a Finance Director. All we need is an introduction from you.
As you probably know we charge about half the going rate and no retainer fee. We can draw up a short list within 2 - 3 days. So, we are low cost, low risk and fast.
So, where are the new opportunities coming from? Private Equity, Venture Capital, the IP departments of Universities are all ones we have approached and the response has been positive. There are plenty of opportunities for those of you interested in investing, say, £25k in start-ups and early stage companies where you might also contribute your particular expertise as a NED, charging fees. You will shortly receive an invitation to attend a business angel event in Central London late-January organised by www.envestors.com. The first 20 people living within the M25 and applying to attend will secure a place free of charge.
So, let me wish you all the very best again for 2010 and it only remains for me to add my assurance that we at Mature Recruitment are trying hard at all times to find you suitable opportunities.
Kind regards
Peter Detre
